Where is Namibia? The nation is located in Southwest Africa and has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. The country also shares a border with Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. The Orange River is located to the south of it. The river also marks the border between Namibia and South Africa and it forms the northern border of the nation with Angola along with the Kunene River.
There are several breathtaking places to visit in Namibia. Just imagine yourself surrounded by warm sunshine, by the sounds of wildlife and complete peace and quiet in the open desert plains. Namibia is also home to some of the oldest deserts in the world and some of the biggest sand dunes besides the largest canyon in Africa. All in all, the country offers some of the most breathtaking scenery the world has to offer making it a prime tourist destination for vacationers. You will not face difficulty in reaching places to visit in Namibia either. The country boasts excellent roads so you can easily go on a personal drive and remain comfortable during an escorted tour as well.
The changing landscape will keep you entertained right till you get to your destination. You can travel to Windhoek which is the country’s capital and boasts important tourist sites such as the Tintenpalast and the Zoo Park. The city also boasts a five star hotel namely the Hilton Windhoek which opened its doors back in 2011. Walvis Bay is the second biggest destination in Namibia and also worth a visit at least once. The town is situated strategically and is the meeting place of several spectacular landscapes besides the Namib Desert, the oldest one of its kind in the world. There is also a massive lagoon which flows in from the Atlantic Ocean and a harbor.
Swakomund is a beach resort in Namibia that is a particular favorite with tourists due to the unique German colonial architecture it features. It opened its doors back in 1892 and acts as the main harbor for German Southwest Africa. Some of the main attractions include the massive sand dunes which can be found near the Swakop River and there is also a camel farm nearby along with the Martin Luther steam locomotive which lies abandoned in the desert. So ‘where is Namibia’ should not be the only thing you should be searching for before planning a trip there.
