Où se situe Tokyo?

Tokyo, Japan, is one of the most important cities in the world. It is also the capital of Japan and its biggest city. A major economic center, the city boasts a culture unlike any in the world. Few other cities in the world feels as foreign and amazing as Tokyo.While there are many beautiful historic sites in Tokyo, what sets it apart is the ultra-modern approach to infrastructure and architecture. The city has a dizzying number of lights on the street, and everything seems to have a neon glow to it. Foreigners who visit the place are known to feel at once lost and entrenched in the city because the layout and infrastructure of the city is so unique. It has a population of 13,185,502 according to 2011 estimates, and covers an area of 2,187.66 km2.

So where is Tokyo Geographically? The region Tokyo is in is known as the Kantō region. Ogasawara Islands and Izu Islands are within the city, which lies on the south-east of the Honshu Island, which is the main Island of Japan. Tokyo is also unique as it is not just a city, but a prefecture as well, and it is the world’s only city-prefecture combination. The city is divided into 23 wards, and each of these are treated and governed as a separate city by the government.
The main portion of the city lies on the northwestern side of Tokyo Bay. On the eastern borders of the city lies the Chiba Prefecture, on the west is the Yamanashi, on the south we find Kanagawa, and on the north side of the city lies Saitama. There are also 31 cities and towns within Tokyo, each considered a self governing body.

When you visit Tokyo, you will feel like the whole city is a tourist attraction. Most modern cities in the world seem to follow the same rules, but Tokyo is completely different. However, don’t be worried, as Tokyo is ranked one of the best cities in the world for tourists due to the helpful locals, the vibrant nightlife, and many available attractions. Tokyo has many historical sites as well, such as the Meiji Shrine, the Sensō-ji, Odaiba, Tokyo Imperial Palace, and the Yasukuni Shrine. There are also many modern attractions here such as a Disney World, and a special sea themed Disney resort called the DisneySea.
