Geneva is a sprawling city with an area of 6.2 square miles which include the enclaves of Celigny in Vaud. The part of Lake Geneva that is attached to the city is called the small lake or Petit lac and is situated across 14.7 square miles. The city lies at an altitude of 1.2257 feet and is similar in height to the largest of the two Pierres du Niton rocks which emerge from the lake and are as old as the last ice age. The second major river of Geneva, the Arve, flows right into the Rhone which lies to the west and you can see Mont Blanc from the city which is also just an hour’s drive if you start from Geneva.
