Vienna is the capital city of Austria, the country's most populous and largest city, enjoying worldwide recognition. Located in the northeastern part of the country, it has a beautiful view of the Alps since it is at the extension that is easternmost to the Alps, which lie in the Vienna Basic. It is a beautiful city and has been ranked as one of the best cities in the world. The city lies on both sides of the Danube River.
The climate is classified as oceanic, and the city enjoys both warm summers and really cold winters. For administrative purposes, the city is comprised of 23 different districts, referred to as bezirke in the local language. The standard of living is very high in Vienna.
The city is one of the wealthiest regions in the European Union, which is impressive considering the other cities included in the European Union. It is also extremely popular for tourists due to the various attractions available here. The churches and historical sites in Vienna are known worldwide. This includes churches like the Church of the Augustinians, the Church of the Friars Minor, and the Church of Maria am Gestade.
One of the most beloved sites in Vienna is the Schönbrunn Palace, the most popular tourist destination in Austria. The Palace is located in near the Wien River, between Hietzing and Meidling. It is included in the World Heritage Sites list by UNESCO and is an important historical landmark.
Another important site in Vienna is the Hofburg Palace, which lies at the centre of Vienna. Vienna is also well known for the many cultural festivals and a great culture of music and arts. Greats like Mozart and Beethoven have performed in Vienna. Two of Germany's finest theatres are also in Vienna, including Burgtheater located at Universitätsring, and Volkstheater which is located in the Neustiftgasse.
Vienna is also famous for its grandiose and is considered the Ball capital of the world, with over 400 grand balls happening here every year. The imperial Ball is the most exclusive one here every year, with people coming in from all over the world. Other cultural festivals which attract tourists include The Neujahrskonzert der Wiener Philharmoniker, which is a new year celebration, the May Day festival, The Vienna Opera Ball, The Life Ball, The Wiener Festwochen, and The Vienna city marathon. There are also over a 100 art museums located here. Other attractions include Naturhistorisches Museum, Belvedere Palace, and the Palais Augarten.
