Glinting with steel, glass and concrete skyscrapers, Frankfurt is unlike any city in Germany. With a population of over 7 million, the city has nicknamed the “Mainhattan” due to its high-powered business and finances hubs, world’s largest stock exchanges, and the gleaming new headquarters of the European city bank. Frankfurt is also renowned for hosting world’s largest trade fairs welcoming thousands of business travellers and vacationers. The Frankfurt Airport, the third largest in Europe, is one of the busiest airports, handling 57 million passengers annually.
You may be wondering where is Frankfurt located. Frankfurt is the largest state of Hessen and the fifth largest city of Germany with a total area of 248.31 km² and population of about 7 million inhabitants. Located on both sides of The River Maine, the southern part of the city consists of Frankfurt city forests and the southeast of Taunus mountain range. Frankfurt is divided into 46 neighborhoods, 118 boroughs, and 448 electoral districts.
To its west lies Landkreis, the administrative center of Main-Taunas-Kreis. The northwest shares borders with Hochtaunuskreis; in the north lies Wetteraukreis; to the northeast we have Main-Kinzig-Kreis; to the southeast Offenbach am Main; Kreis Offenbach is on the south; and to the southwest the Kreis Groß-Gerau. As for its geographical importance on the world map, it claims to be center of Europe at a distance of only 440 km from Amsterdam, 640 km from London, 670 km from Milan and only 600k km away from Paris, the city of love. Frankfurt is known to have a temperate oceanic climate with mild winters and summers, so anytime is a good time to visit Frankfurt.
