Where is Guatemala? Guatemala is a Central American country, which is bordered by Mexico in the north and west, Caribbean to the east, Belize to the northeast, Pacific Ocean to the southwest, El Salvador to the southeast and Honduras to the east. It is the most populous Central American state with 15.8 million residents. The capital and largest city of Guatemala is Nueva Guatemala de la Asuncion, which is also called Guatemala City.

The trek to this place isn't easy and can easily take 5 days through the jungle. Moving on, Guatemala presents many other interesting activities and places such as the picturesque town of Livingston, which can only be reached by boat. It is known for its Garifuna culture with evenings filling the air with regional dance, music and beats.
If you're in Parque Central Quetzaltenango, also known as Xela, you'll get to explore the local and cultural hub of Guatemala which is surrounded by three big volcanoes. While you are there, visit the sacred lake, Laguna Chicabal, surrounded by a cloud of forest. The region also has an active volcano which last erupted in 2010, the Volcan Pacaya. If you are strong hearted, take the hiking trail to the top which is open to the public and offers a magnificent view.
