Where is Hamburg?

Hamburg is the second largest city of Germany located at the northern part of the country next to the river Elbe. The city is connected with excellent road and railway networks with interior part of the country as well as with cities in the neighboring countries of France, Austria, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Poland.

The riverine location of the city allows it to compete with Venice and Amsterdam with various canals where visitors can enjoy a boat ride. Most of the canals, known as Brook or Fleet, are actually former streams and rivers that are regulated to assist in expansion of the city over their banks. It has more bridges than Venice, Amsterdam, and London combined.

You can find a lot of interesting activities and entertainment options in the city. Sightseeing busses are available that take you to various attractive sites dotted all over the city. The tour bus can also take you to one of the various museums located in the city, which include Kunsthalle Hamburg und Galerie der Gegenwart, Deichtorhallen Haus der, Altonaer Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte, and Stettin. These museums are open at certain time of the day and have a small entry fee.

You can also visit the Tierpark Hagenbeck, which is a famous zoo in Hamburg that attracts a large number of visitors. The zoo has open enclosures instead of cages to better approximate natural environments of the animals.
The district of Neustadt-Altstadt is the heart of the city that has the symbolic city hall as well as the shopping area of Mönckebergstrasse. If you fancy a relaxing spots, you can visit Schanze, which is a popular district in Hamburg filled with street cafes and barbeque spots next to the River Elbe. Other well-known districts in Hamburg include the Neustadt-Altstadt, Altona-St. Pauli, Northern Hamburg, and St.Georg and East.
