Known as the 'City of Angels', Los Angeles is one of the most well-known cities in the United States of America. It is in the state of California and occupies an important position economically and financially in terms of being the fifth most critical and third wealthiest city in the world. It has an area spanning 1213 square kilometers or 468 square miles and along with Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Santa Ana forms the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan area. Known for its Mediterranean climate, the average temperature in the summer is approximately 73 degrees Fahrenheit and 53 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter season. Los Angeles is a metropolitan city with an economy specialized in various fields including culture, media, science, entertainment, sports, technology, medicine, education, fashion, and research. The gross metropolitan product of L.A.
stands over $831 billion as of 2008 and is the 3rd highest in the world after Greater Tokyo and New York. As a host of the Summer Olympic Games in years 1932 and 1984, it has bid for hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics. The city of Los Angeles also comprises of a wide array of hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, and universities as well as a collection of important landmarks.

One of the most visited places is the Getty Centre Museum, which houses an excellent collection of art pieces of Vincent Van Gogh along with other contemporary artists.
