Located on the Atlantic coast in southeastern Florida, Miami is one of the largest and most populous cities in the United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the metropolitan area, where Miami is, is the fourth-largest urban area in the country and the eighth-most populous (in terms of population per density). Miami spreads over a considerably larger area than most of the other cities in Florida. Its suburbs are located on a broad plain that stretches between the Florida Everglades (east) and Biscayne Bay (west). It is bordered by the Florida Bay in the north and Lake Okeechobee in the south.
The central portion of Miami lies near the shores of Biscayne Bay, which consists of a blend of natural and artificial barrier islands. The Gulf Stream runs northward, approximately 15 miles off the coast, giving Miami a warm summer and mild winter climate. Like all other Floridian cities, Miami is known for its beaches and a strong financial and technical infrastructure. The city has frequently been cited in a number of popular video games and is used as a filming location for several blockbuster movies.
Tourism is one of the many activities that have led to where Miami is today. Miami Beach is separated from the main municipality however, and is located on an island, interconnected with bridges. It is the most exclusive beaches in all of Florida and tourists flock to it all year round.
Aside from this, the Bayside Marketplace is a large outdoor shopping mall with over a hundred tourist shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and live entertainment sessions. In addition to shopping, tour boats are available which offer cruises around the Biscayne Bay.
Vitzcaya Museum and Gardens is a significant cultural achievement of Miami with an array of impressive artworks, architectures and gardens. It contains several Italian and French fountains, sculptures and pools.
Sport and concert fans are regular visitors of the American Airline Arena to experience NBA’s Miami Heat. It holds several tournaments, games, concerts and major events all-year round. In addition, the Miami Zoo offers more than 2000 different species of animals and safari trips for all wildlife enthusiasts and animal lovers. Another notable animal paradise includes the Miami Seaquarium.
Heading eastwards, the Everglades offers a natural preservation center for several indigenous animal and plant species along with several waterfront properties. This is one of the fundamental reasons why the city has flourished, despite the economic meltdown. It’s also why almost every real estate investor knows where Miami is!
