Where is Portugal? It is located in the Iberian Peninsula and is visited by hundreds of tourists that are mesmerized by the rich culture, beautiful architecture, and the lively cities. The country became a part of the European Union in 1986, after which it experienced economic prosperity. Portugal is considered as the best destination for golfing as it has the perfect climate and has recently developed a stellar golfing infrastructure.

Portugal was initially a monarchy, but it became a republic in 1910, and finally in 1974, the country became a free democracy. The mean annual temperature in the south is 18°C and in the north it is 15°C. Summers can be hot as the temperature rises up to 40°C in the interior and 35°C in the north. The country follows the Western European Time Zone (WET), which is the same as UK. The main regions in the country are Northern Portugal, North Central Portugal, South Central Portugal, Southern Portugal, Azores, and the Madeira, whereas the main cities are Albufeira, Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Évora, Faro, Fátima, Funchal, Guimarães, Lisbon, Porto,and the Viana do Castelo.

Now that you know where is Portugal, it is important that you learn how you will get to the place. You can travel by plane as all the major airlines have regular scheduled flights. The country has three international airports in the mainland, whereas the Azores and the Madeira Islands also have airports that cater to both international as well as local flights. You can also reach o Portugal by travelling via the train as the country is well connected to all the major European countries. For within country travel, you can opt for the train, bus, car, or a bicycle.

Some of the places to visit in Portugal include Cabo da Roca, Coa Valley, Douro & Coa, Óbidos, Peneda-Gerês National Park, Praia D'El Rey, and the Serra da Estrela. Other than this, you can spend your time by the beach, go golfing, or experience the countryside while riding your bicycle.
