Where is Rio de Janeiro? Rio de Janeiro is in Brazil and is the second largest city of the country. It is popular with tourists, famous for its flamboyant and extravagant festivals. It is very well known internationally and many aspects of the city have been depicted in many popular movies as well, specially its carnivals. Rio de Janeiro is an important cultural landscape.
Where is Rio de Janeiro Geographically? Rio de Janeiro is located on the Atlantic Coast of Brazil, in its west region, near the Tropic of Capricorn. The city was founded next to the Guanabara Bay, and the center of the city lies in the plains of the bay, specifically on the western shores of it. Rio de Janeiro is usually divided into the south zone and the north zone. There are a lot of amazing Rocky Mountains around the Rio de Janeiro, such as Corcovado Peak, Tijuca Hills, and Sugar Loaf.
Rio de Janeiro has a very vibrant culture and its festivals and carnivals are known all over the world.
The most famous of these is called the Rio Carnival, and images and videos of the carnival are shown on television all over the world. The Samba Queens, who wear flamboyant costumes in these parades, are internationally recognizable. Carnivals aren’t the only fun activity here; even New Year is celebrated with more enthusiasm than most places. Millions of people gather in the Copacabana Beach to celebrate with solidarity.
Where is Rio de Janeiro’s most famous landmark and tourist attraction, you wonder? On the peak of the Corcovado Mountain, we have the ‘Christ the Redeemer’ statue. The statue is 30 meters tall, and has become the symbol of the city internationally. The statue seems to look over the world and is an awe inspiring feat of art and engineering. Copacabana Beach is also a huge tourist attraction, due to its beautiful surroundings and great beach culture.
Rio de Janeiro also has some great nature on display at the Tijuca Forest, Parque Nacional da Tijuca, and the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. The Tijuca Forest is one of the best forests in the world, easily among the largest urban forests in the world. If you’re looking for fun then the Lapa Neighborhood is the place you’re looking for. The extremely vibrant nightlife here is unlike anything else in the world. Clubs, music, street dancing, the place is brimming with fun. Rio de Janeiro is truly a city filled with life.
