Where is Seville? Seville is one of Spain's largest cities and the capital of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, south of the Iberian Peninsula, bordering Castile-La Mancha and Extremadura to the immediate north, Murcia and Mediterranean Sea to the east, Portugal and the Atlantic to the west, and the Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.
Andalusia consists of eight provinces, one of which is Seville, the capital city of the autonomous community. Seville is based on the plains of the Guadalquivir River and is the 4th largest city in Spain. It has a total area of 54 square miles where most of the city is on the east side of the Guadalquivir River, while La Cartuja, Triana, Los Remedios, and Aljarafe are based on the west. Aljarafe is the major metropolitan area on the west of Seville.
Seville shares its boundaries with La Rinconada, Santiponce, and La Algaba to the north, Alcala de Guadaira to the east, Gelves, Dos Hermanas and San Juan de Aznalfarache to the west. The city is based on the same parallel positioning as San Francisco, the west coast city in the United States. To the east, it is also on the same parallel with Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The area has a subtropical Mediterranean climate with dry summers and wet winters.
Seville has 11 districts which are further divided into 108 neighborhoods – Casco Antiguo, Nervion, Cerro-Amate, Distrito Sur, Los Remedios, Bellavista-La Palmera, Triana, Este-Alcoso Torreblanca, San Pablo-Santa Justa, and Macarena.
