Where is Venice?

Everyone knows where is Venice, as it one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Venice is on a lagoon and receives around 20 million tourists every year who visit the place to experience the art, architecture, food, and of course the romantic charm. Venice is basically made up of 118 islands, and the major tourist attractions are in main districts like Santa Croce, San Polo, San Marco, Dorsoduro, Castello, and Cannaregio. Other important districts are Lido di Venezia and Isola Della Giudecca.

The history of the place goes back to 827, when Venice was under the rule of a Byzantine duke. In the year 1797, the city came under Napoleon and then kept going back and forth between Italy and Austria, which is the reason why you will see that the art and architecture is inspired by the Renaissance period. It is usually raining in Venice, so make sure that you have an umbrella and waterproof shoes with you.

The best time to visit is during the spring season, as the temperature is between 5 to 15°C. If you want to avoid the tourist traffic, then go in November or December. However, the winters are usually very cold. The city often experiences high water level, and during those times the streets are flooded.

Now that you know where is Venice, it is time to learn how you will get there. You can either travel by plane or land to the Marco Polo Airport. The Treviso Airport is only a few kilometers away, and tourists can also land at the San Nicolo Airport. The transport system of the city is excellent and the airport is connected to the train station that can take passengers to the rest of the cities. Another way to travel is by the water taxi. You can also go to the Stazione Marittima and travel by Cruise or smaller boats. Other than this, you can travel from Venezia Santa Lucia train station or can rent a car, or catch a bus to this city.

Since Venice is so beautiful, a lot of people prefer travelling on foot so that they can experience the beauty of Italy. Some of the must visit places include Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Torcello, Bell tower of St. Mark (Campanile di San Marco), Clock tower (Torre dell'Orologio), Correr Museum, Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale), Jewish Ghetto of Venice, Saint Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco), Santa Maria dei Miracoli, The Jewish Museum (Museo Ebraico), and The Peggy Guggenheim Museum.
